Bringing home Guinness
Just Before the Supper Storm Sandy
Saturday October 27th
We traveled 5 hours to New Castle PA
to pick up our new herdsire named Four Points Guinness
We purchased him from Covert Valley Alpacas.
After about an hour visit we were back on the road home for
another 5 hours.
Loaded and ready to travel home.
Guinness in front, white and Issac, fawn, in back.

We soon found out that Guinness is full of personality.
We stopped along the road to pick up some vegetables at a road side stand. We bought a lot of groceries and the young women there was kind enough to help us carry them all out to the truck. After trying to explain what an alpaca was she was curious about seeing one. I opened the door to show her. She was pleasantly please with what she saw. Guinness being the showman that I had heard he was bent down and gave her a kiss.
How sweet!!
Thanks Guinness.
We arrived home after dark. We turned on all the lights and
walked both Guinness and Isaac across the field to their new home. Every other alpaca on the ranch was watching. The boys walked very nicely on the lead and seemed happy with their new home.
Until .....
Sandy came.
All the alpacas at Quarry Critters Alpaca Ranch, including the new boys were forced to stay inside all day Monday, October 29, 2012.
By Tuesday the hard rain stopped and everyone came outside.
Guinness and Isaac were surprise to find themselves in the middle of a pond. Some homecoming welcome uh?
No worries as the water will run off into the quarry soon. The inside of the run is has a raised floor so the alpacas will stay high and dry as long as they want to.
David is digging out the grass knoll so the water will run away.
In a while the run off in the quarry will go away and all will be normal again. Good thing we have a big quarry for the flood rains to run into. If you look closely that is our barn in the back right of the picture with all our female alpacas in it. They were warm and dry!
So glad we made it through.
Prayers go out to all that need them in their recovery from this storm.
